Single Again

Any change can take an emotional as well as financial toll on our lives. No matter how we find ourselves single again, we must address what to do with our financial affairs as quickly as possible. 

If you are the primary member on your WPCCU accounts, we suggest coming into one of our branches as soon as you can. In most instances it is advantageous to close your existing joint account(s) and open new ones. However, closing an account will not remove you from any joint obligations.

In advance of coming into the branch, call us at 1-800-300-9728, and we can advise you of what type of materials you should have with you (i.e. death certificate) to make these transactions as seamless as possible. 

The following is a check list of some things to consider and contact. You may need to consult an attorney, a financial advisor or tax planner for some issues:

  • Disposition of all accounts (savings, checking, money market, IRAs, etc)
  • Beneficiary changes.
  • Life Insurance
  • DMV for Title and Address Changes
  • Outstanding Loans
  • Credit Card Companies
  • Mortgage Company
  • Utilities
  • Review and Monitor your Credit
  • Notify Utility Companies

Having trouble logging In?

If this is your first time logging in please follow these instructions:

  1. Enter your Online Banking ID.
  2. Enter your Password. You must use the last four numbers of your Social Security Number as your temporary password the first time you log in.
  3. Then follow the on-screen instructions to set up your new password, security image and security settings.
